Drawing from la fuente/the spring of living water

John 4:13-14
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water (in Spanish "la fuente") welling up to eternal life.”

Our Site

Our final team of the busy season has come and gone, and our site is slowly returning to our normal routine, including updating all of our prayer warriors! So far this year, we have hosted 14 teams! We praise God for all of the churches who boldly and faithfully sent teams to partner with us in ministry.

We would like to lift up all praise to the Lord for how what he is already doing through these teams looking to the longer term. After their week-long stay here at the start of the summer, Wellspring Alliance Church in Wheaton, Illinois will be officially partnering with us to support our site. We are so grateful for God's provision and for how He has connected these two ministries!

Our facilities have received many upgrades and facelifts thanks to the hard work of our many teams. Some teams helped to upgrade our camera system and stairwells here at Wired and others generously blessed our kitchen with many new supplies and materials. We are extremely grateful for their contributions!

Other groups helped to make our intern house feel more like a home. Curtains and cabinets have been hung, hammock hooks installed and a plethora of plants and shrubs have found their homes in the garden. Our interns and residents are humbled by this generous outpouring of love and are grateful to have this sanctuary to call home.

These partnerships throughout the summer have also opened up conversations about further ministry opportunities. For example, God has put it in our hearts to possibly expand La Fuente in order to connect more with youth in other parts of the city by way of our two Alliance churches. We are asking God for direction and wisdom in whether or not to pursue these visions of connecting more with ACM Apopa and CDA.

As a ministry, we are hoping to develop connections with local universities in order to establish a volunteer partnership program. We are in desperate need of a math tutor and we hope to connect Salvadoran university students with our program as a means of finding tutors and translators.

Tony will be embarking on his month-long fall tour in mid-October, and he will be visiting many of your churches! Stay tuned for more updates!

Finally, our entire staff will be taking a week of rest in September in order to recover from our busy team season. Please join us in praying for refreshment, rejuvenation and renewal for all of our staff members as they take this time of rest in the Lord.

Ministries

La Fuente
This is the first year we've been able to continue La Fuente during group season. We've faced many challenges, but we are glad that God has allowed us to meet with our teens so consistently. During this time, we've watched our teens interact with group members, respectfully and attentively listening to what they came to share, allowing them to speak into their lives despite language barriers and cultural differences. We hope that meeting these brothers and sisters in Christ from other countries might encourage them and grow their curiosity for how God works.

Tony has still been meeting with a group of our La Fuente guys every Tuesday for Bible study. He has received so many requests to join that he started another group that meets on Thursdays. Their first meeting was yesterday. Praise God for this opportunity to pour into our guys!

As a program, we are still facing challenges with spiritual warfare. We have fewer teens that come every day, and we know that each of them goes home to various struggles in their families and communities. We thank God for the opportunity to walk alongside the ones who are able to come every day, and we ask Him to have mercy on those who no longer are part of our program.

La Fuente FC
Our guys soccer team placed 2nd in the last tournament. We are proud of how hard our guys have worked this season and we look to the next season with hopeful hearts, ready to learn from our mistakes. Please join us in praying for opportunities to play in other tournaments. The current league we are in is generally for school groups, and we are waiting for a final word on whether or not we can continue to participate as an NGO. We really feel that the Lord is calling us to keep building relationships through sports and we are giving Him all our trust in this time of uncertainty. Thank you to all the teams that have blessed this ministry with new gear! Our guys are excited to put it all to use to grow as players and as a team.

Mavericks
Our girls flag football team finished out their last season in a three-way tie for first place. Our team has shown great improvement and potential and they are ready to hit the ground running for their next season, which starts in September. Some girls have had to leave the team for various reasons, but by the grace of God many new girls have joined, allowing us to reach them with the Gospel. Another big thanks to all the teams who have brought along gear to share with our girls! It's truly a huge blessing to our players and coach!

Interns

We currently have 6 potential short-term interns for next year. Among them are individuals hoping to work with La Fuente and others who are hoping to help with teams in the summer. We thank God for this abundance of laborers interesting in coming to our site and we pray that He would give them discernment and confirmation on whether or not to come and serve.

Prayer Requests

  • We would first like to ask for prayers for our staff, who have been working extremely hard through this busy season. They have humbly spent the summer pouring into team members and community members and now they will take time to rest in the Lord. Please pray for good rest, and filling of their spirits during their week of vacation in September.
  • Next, please continue to pray for our La Fuente kids. As a staff, we've started to pray for them specifically at 8:30 am every week day and we invite you to join us! We pray not only for their protection, but also that God would be opening their hearts to receive Christ, that He would save their souls and call them to a life of freedom in Him.
  • We invite you to pray on Fridays for our speakers at youth group. We ask that God would give them the courage to use the right words of love and truth as they speak to our teens.
  • As mentioned before, please help us to pray for guidance and discernment from the Lord regarding the possible expansion of La Fuente with the Alliance churches in San Salvador. We also ask for provision from Him for the resources to do all that He asks of us.
  • Along the same lines, we ask for prayer that God would reveal to us other ways of ministering to different groups of people in our city. There are so many unreached and we hope to obediently share the truth and light of the Gospel with those that God puts on our hearts.
  • We also ask you to pray for God to provide partners in our city (like with local universities) that will join us in this mission as well as partner churches and groups of people who are interested in supporting our intern house project. We've been teasing a fundraising campaign for a while now, and we hope to bring that to light very very soon!

Words cannot describe how grateful we are for all that God has done for us, and so we join in with all of creation to sing songs of worship to the God who gives us drink from the spring of water that wells up to eternal life!

In Him,

Envision El Salvador
