Fighting not against flesh and blood

Greetings faithful partners in prayer!

It is with great enthusiasm that we share with you some updates from Envision Wired and we humbly ask you to lift up this ministry in prayer.

We are about to hit the thick of team season and we are anticipating a crazy, busy, exciting and fruitful season. The Spirit has been poured out upon us and we are treading on fertile ground. (Isaiah 32:15)

We recently prepared our staff for this season with a training where we went over various details and expectations for this time. We are asking God for energy and for wisdom during this busy season. Our hearts yearn to see Him at work and we ask that He use us to bless others as we evangelize and reach out to Salvadoran youth and kids. As we're writing this, we are currently hosting Wheaton Chinese Alliance and Wellspring Alliance Churches (pictured below) who are working alongside a local middle school and youth development program.

Tony's trip to Kentucky went very well. Thank you for all of your prayers and intercessions for him. He was able to connect with soccer coaches who are interested in helping our soccer program and came back to Wired with some new coaching equipment. Tony also met with a church who brought a team to El Salvador three years ago and who is currently interested in bringing another team here. We pray that God would be working in this relationship and that His will would be done!

We've started a new partnership with Consejo de Café, which is a government-sponsored program that centers around Salvadoran coffee. We've been pursuing this partnership for over a year in the hopes that it would open doors for future jobs for our teens. By the grace of God, they are allowing us to send our teens to their workshops in cupping, roasting, barista-ing, and latte art for free! Kimberly (below with our intern, Laura) is the first beneficiary of this new partnership. We are hoping that she might be able to find a job in a cafe which might help her pay for college in the future. Praise God for this opportunity!

Finally, we are hoping to launch a fundraising campaign in the beginning of July. We are eagerly waiting on the Lord to provide partners in ministry. We are currently working on a video to share about our ministry, and we are excited to share this with you as soon as we finish.

Ministries

La Fuente
So many wonderful things are happening at La Fuente!

We've just started a Bible study with three of our boys. For some of them, this is the first time they've sat down and read the Bible, covering some of the basics of the Christian faith. Tony is thrilled to have this opportunity for discipleship and is hoping to have several more boys join the group.

During our last youth group service (pictured below), four kids accepted Christ. God is so evidently using this time to speak truth into our kids' lives. We are grateful that God has provided enough staff and interns to be able to continue to have La Fuente even during group season, instead of cancelling it for the summer, as we've had to do in the past.

Amidst all these reasons to rejoice, we have also been experiencing more oppression from the enemy. We've seen several kids rebelling and displaying more difficult attitudes, and we've had conflicts with parents and teachers concerning their kids' participation in La Fuente. Of course we know that the enemy will try to stifle the good things that are happening in God's kingdom, and as a staff, we have decided to dedicate ourselves to consistent, daily prayer for each of the kids by name, arming ourselves for the spiritual battle ahead (Ephesians 6:10-20). We invite you to join us!

La Fuente FC
Some of our boys on the soccer team just received new cleats for their season. They've been practicing very hard and won their first three games in the tournament. God has been using the team to reach new boys, and we've added three new members. We hope and pray that in joining the team, the truth and love of God will reach their hearts and impact their lives.

Mavericks
The Mavericks Flag Football team is in full swing, and they finally have their uniforms!! They've now played four games and have a 2-2 record. We're excited to have our new intern Nate join Coach Mario as an assistant coach. He brings many many years of football experience with him and has been a huge help to the team. Our other new intern Brooke will be joining the team with the intention of building relationships with the girls, as well as coaching and mentoring them spiritually.

Interns

Now that we've mentioned both of them, we'd like to formally introduce you all to our new interns, Nate and Brooke.

Nate Wolf comes from Horseheads, New York. Nate will be with us until July 4th and is charged with La Fuente and construction at Wired and is an assistant coach for the Mavericks flag football team.

Brooke Thorson comes from Pengilly, Minnesota. Brooke will be here for one year and will be working on girls' discipleship, local church partnership and youth work, and helping teams.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our intern, Hannah Fish, who has served with us for the last five months. We are beyond grateful to God for calling her here, and we know that He will use her wherever she goes.

We are excited to share that we have two more interns that are interested in serving next year. We thank God for sending these laborers and pray that He would be readying their hearts to serve here.

Finally, we'd like to lift up one of our residents, Andrea, who will soon be leading a team coming from her church in Pennsylvania. Please keep her in your prayers as she takes on this challenge!

Prayer requests

Please help us to give these requests to the Lord:

  • The summer. That God would give us strength and joy and that He would work in the lives of the people we will be serving alongside.
  • Good health for our staff. Many of our staff have been sick lately and we refuse to let our imperfect, earthly bodies hinder us from taking on the work of the Kingdom.
  • Spiritual warfare at La Fuente. We know the enemy is behind this and we pray that the Spirit would arm us and our kids to resist his attacks with His truth and light.
  • Tony and the new boys' Bible study. That God would give Tony understanding and wisdom to prepare meaningful studies for the boys. And that God would work in these three boys, David, Saúl, and Carlos, and that they would be excited and willing to sacrifice their lives for Jesus. That they wouldn't grow weary and that they'd be 100% convinced that this is the path they want to walk in life.
  • Our fundraising campaign that we will launch next month. That God would provide partners who care deeply for this ministry and that He would provide for every spiritual, material and financial need that we currently have.
  • For Kimberly, who we mentioned earlier as the first beneficiary of our partnership with Consejo del Café. Kimberly gave her life to Christ earlier this year and she currently plays for the Mavericks with her older sister. We pray and hope that God will provide opportunities for her to be discipled by one of our interns and that He would open doors for her future.

In the words of Paul in his letter to the Philippians, "[We] thank my God every time [we] remember you. In all [our] prayers for all of you, [we] always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

With love and in fellowship,

Envision El Salvador
