God is good!

Hello brothers and sisters!

I’m happy to share with you this new update on how things are developing at our Envision site here in El Salvador.

Programs from Broken:

God was able to help another deported fellow through the Diaspora ministry over the last few weeks. This guy was actually deported to El Salvador a while ago, but due to gang threats because of his tattoos, he had to leave the place he was living and come to San Salvador with nothing. He was homeless without any support. Someone directed him to us and (gracias a Dios) we were able to connect him with a work place and help get his documents in order so he could go  apply for a position at the call center. He got the job! God also provided a temporary place for him to stay while he looked for a place to live. Now he’s on his own and connected to our friends from Hungry Church. (For any who didn’t read previous updates, Hungry Church is now out of Envision and starting the process to  become affiliated with the National Alliance Church of El Salvador. We are actually signing a “transitioning out” agreement with the leadership team of the church today.)

La Fuente keeps growing strong. Kevin Cabrera is starting a youth group/bible study with the kids every Saturday afternoon (tomorrow will be the second one) and this is great because this way we will be able to go deeper into sharing what it means and what it is like to be a follower of Jesus. Hopefully the Lord will begin touching their hearts and move them to surrender their lives to HIm.
The soccer project is improving also. We are very thankful to God for his provision and goodness. Another non profit donated some coaching gear (such as soccer balls and practice vests) and now we have more resources to keep building this project better. There is also a church from KY that is sending more gear for us with the next short term team, arriving on May 4th. So we are excited to see how this develops in the future and definitely want to take advantage of the opportunity to keep influencing these kids with our testimony as followers of Jesus.

Group season is here!

We always enjoy having short term groups that come to work along with us in our programs or the different partnerships we have built here with other organizations and churches. We had the first group already come from Redding, CA and it was awesome to see how they interacted with the kids from La Fuente and how that helped to build stronger relationships between the boys and girls and our Envision Staff. It was a great week!

Intern house:

Last but not least, we would like to share with you that we are renting a house now with the idea of buying it at the end of this year. Laura Rodriguez, a two-year resident, has already moved into it and we are expecting the arrival of 2 more residents and 2 more interns that will be living there. This is great because we see how God is bringing people from all over the US to come and serve the needy down here. With getting this house we gain more space at our ministry center to be able to use it to do even more ministry there. We are praying for God to find partners, 15 churches or any individuals, who would like to help us buy this property by giving a total of $1,500 per year over the next 5 years starting in 2017. If you’re interested in partnering with us through this opportunity let me know at  escalante.nic@gmail.com .

Some prayer requests:

1. That God will give us the strength needed, both physically and spiritually, to go through a successful summer with short term teams in order to advance his kingdom in El Salvador.
2. Pray for the residents and interns that are coming this year to serve here, that God will provide the funds for them to be able to come and for God to fill them with passion for him and for ministry.
3. Pray that God takes care of this site in every single sense: Staff, finances, leadership and protection at all times.
4. Pray that God will use our ministries here in order to reach out to more people and bring them to His feet.

Thanks for checking on this update and may God bless you always!
